Are you looking for a coffee shop or a classic Mom-and-Pop diner to get a great cuppa joe and a bite to eat in Chesapeake, Virginia? Here are five local spots to consider.

C And B’s Diner, located at 1102 George Washington Hwy N in Chesapeake, is open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week.

Friendly service, huge portions, good food and low prices make this diner a popular place for locals. Enjoy a traditional southern breakfast of country ham, biscuits and gravy, and grits, or grab a breakfast sandwich for a quick bite on the go. Lunch offerings include club sandwiches, burgers, and hearty home-style meatloaf or liver and onions with mashed potatoes.

The Egg Bistro, 501 Kempsville Road, puts an upscale twist on traditional breakfast fare. Eggs Benedict fans will appreciate their eight different combinations. Try the “Eggs Blue Crab,” English muffins and crab cakes, topped with buttery Hollandaise, or the “Cajun,” with crawfish etouffee and surrey sausage on a French baguette.

The lunchtime menu has a tasty selection of burgers, sandwiches, paninis, and wraps. Choose one of their crowd favorites, like the Virginia cheesesteak, or build your own sandwich from a dizzying array of meats, breads, cheeses, and toppings.

This hip, family-friendly restaurant is also open evenings for dinner Wednesday through Saturday. They have dozens of shareable appetizers to choose from. Grilled Mahi Mahi tacos, build-your-own nachos, and chicken wings with your choice of one of five different preparations are great meal starters.

Steaks, stuffed pork chops, shrimp and grits, and their number one selling entree, meatloaf topped with rich, brown gravy and onion rings, are just a few of the main event offerings. Don’t forget to save room for their decadent Kahlua chocolate cake!

Blue Skies Grille, located at 5172 W Military Hwy, is so-named because of its proximity to the airport. It is a favorite lunch spot for locals, travelers, and pilots.

From your comfy red diner booth, you can watch the planes take off and land while dining on reasonably priced homemade soups and sandwiches.

Pops Diner Co, on the Greenbrier Parkway, has been voted by locals as the best breakfast in Chesapeake for four years running. They always have fresh, hot coffee, and are known for their strawberry Belgian waffles and homemade hash. Be sure to try their yummy she-crab soup on Fridays.

D’ Cracked Egg, at 2044 Campostella Rd, has scrumptious breakfast favorites like sweet potato pancakes with pecans, corned beef hash, and overstuffed omelets.

They also serve a first-rate dinner buffet in the evening. If you’re in the mood for ribs, pork chops, baked chicken and meatloaf, you won’t be disappointed. Mac-n-cheese, sweet potatoes, collard greens, cabbage, baked beans, carrot soufflé, and an assortment of tasty desserts round out this all-you-can eat bargain.

D’Cracked Egg is just a couple of miles from Cavalier Mazda, 1552 S. Military Hwy. It’s a great place to stop after checking out one of the dealership’s quality new or pre-owned vehicles, or visit while having your vehicle serviced by the professionals at Cavalier Mazda.
