Golfing in Chesapeake VA
It's time to load your golf clubs into your Mazda from your Chesapeake Mazda dealer and head for your favorite Chesapeake golf course. There are several courses to choose from within five or six miles of central Chesapeake.
Cahoon Plantation
This golf course located at 1501 Cahoon Parkway is only 5.2 miles from central Chesapeake. The 18-hole par-72 course is long, flat and smooth with 7,141 yards of bent grass. But don't let the terrain lull you into thinking this is an easy course. Most of the holes are bordered with water hazards and sand traps that will challenge the best recreational golfers. Estimated time to play the 18 holes is 4 1/2 hours.
The Cahoon Plantation Golf Club offers a pro shop with lessons, a driving range, and practice putting and pitching greens. The Club offers a Monday Night League, Ladies Nine Hole night on Tuesdays and special parent-child tournaments.
Michelle Holmes has her School of Golf on this course with junior golf camps offered throughout the spring, summer and fall. The Cahoon Plantation Golf Association is open to everyone who enjoys the game. Special tournaments and events are scheduled throughout the summer. The club also has a restaurant that can host special events.
Battlefield Golf Club
The Battlefield Golf Club is the newest Tidewater golf course in the Chesapeake area. This 18-hole links course is located at 1001 South Centerville Turnpike. The public course offers 6,192 yards of fairway and greens for a par-70. The terrain is rolling hills with elevated greens. You will also find several water hazards.
Driving range with 30 tees, putting green and pro shop are available at the Battlefield Golf Club. Junior golf programs with lessons are open to youngsters ages 5 to 15.
Chesapeake VA Golf Club
The Chesapeake Golf Club, located at 1201 Clubhouse Drive in the village of Las Gaviotas is a semi-private course and club. There is a membership fee although the course is open to the public at certain times.
This 18-hole course offers 6,159 yards of manicured fairways and greens for a par-71 game. The course is located about fifteen minutes from the center of Chesapeake. This is a course for golfers who want a challenge with dogleg fairways, sand traps and water hazards where they will do the most damage.
The Chesapeake Golf Club has two club houses including one with a swimming pool. The club has restaurant and meeting facilities for various events. The Chesapeake Golf Club is a member of the Hampton Roads Golf Clubs that include Stumpy Lake and Lambert's Point Golf Courses in the neighboring Virginia Beach area.
Greenbrier Country Club
This private club located at 1301 Volvo Parkway offers golf and tennis to members and guests. The par-72 course is 6,937 yards of Bermuda grass. It is known for tight fairways, doglegs and blind spots on the links. Add lakes and streams for water hazards and a few bunkers for a challenging course.
The course has hosted the LPGA Crestar Classic. The club has fitness facilities and a clubhouse with restaurant and pro shop. A practice range is also available.
Chesapeake VA Driving ranges
The Indian River Golf Fan Center with 70 practice tees is located down the road from Cavalier Mazda at 920 S. Military Highway.
The Chesapeake Campground at 693 George Washington Highway South has 12 practice tees.
